PADI DIVEMASTER COURSES WITH SCUBA ZONE
The Divemaster course is recognised as the first step to becoming a Professional
Diving Instructor as it is the first professional qualification within the PADI
system. However, many progressive divers embark on this valuable and challenging
course purely to attain recognition of their diving abilities and to enable them to
act as official assistants to PADI instructors or to be team leaders
in their own right.
During the course you will expand your knowledge of diving theory your diving
skills to a professional teaching standard. Divemaster candidates are involved
in the training of Open Water students and assist in the planning and supervising
of other diving activities.
This provides candidates with 'hands-on' experience in real life situations that
will prove invaluable to those candidates choosing to embark on the Instructor
Development Course or wishing to provide the highest quality Divemaster assistance.

The PADI Divemaster course consists of three modules: Knowledge Development,
Water Skills and Stamina and Practical application. You'll probably progress
through all the three modules simultaneously based upon the course schedule
you and your Instructor agree on. The schedule will depend on your needs
and the amount of time you have available for diving. There are certain
course requirements and some portions of the course must be completed before
others.
Twelve topics make up the Knowledge Development module. You?ll cover these
topics through independent study, projects and discussions. Your independent
study will include reading the Divemaster manual and completing the Knowledge
reviews, plus use of materials such as the PADI Divemaster video, the Encylopedia
of Recreational Diving, the Diving Knowledge workbook, the Business of Diving
book, PADI speciality videos, the Open Water Diver CD-Rom and other materials
listed throughout the manual.
Your Instructor will also hold informal discussions throughout the course
to provide more information, to check your progress and to give you an opportunity
to discuss and ask questions about what you are learning.
The water skills and stamina module has two goals - to develop and evaluate
your overall water skills and stamina, and to improve on your existing scuba
skills. You will also refresh your rescue skills.
The practical application module allows you to learn divemaster skills.
You will begin by completing four required training excercises; a mapping
project of a dive site, an underwater problem solving exercise, implementing
a divemaster conducted program and managing a dive accident scenario.
After the required training exercises, you'll have a chance to develop and
practise divemaster skills with student divers and actual divers, under
instructor supervision.
